Music is a vital part of the worship and life at Ridgeway. All those who attend our worship services are encouraged to lift their voices in song and make a joyful noise to the Lord! In addition there are many other opportunities for participation in other aspects of our music ministry as described below.
Adult Choir - Sunday worship is enhanced by the anthems
offered by the adult choir (15-20 singers) usually 3 times a month, except
during the summer. At least once a year the choir presents a major cantata
during the morning worship service. Various instrumentalists sometimes
accompany the choir. Rehearsals are held Thursday evenings from Praise Team -Our Sunday worship services usually begin with several "praise songs" led by interested singers and instrumentalists. Several times a year, a more performance-oriented praise team offers the anthem during morning worship. Volunteer Sharon Roof coordinates this ministry with the staff. Junior and Senior High Music - Several times each year the youth share music, dance, puppets and drama during the morning worship service. Youth Instrumental Group - Junior high and senior high
instrumentalists, often joined by "honorary youth" (adults), play
for worship services several times a year. Our instrumentalists also serve as
accompaniment for Christmas caroling in the community, to our own members who
are shut-in or nursing home residents, and at the Summer Music Program - Throughout the summer, members and special guests are encouraged to share their talents during the morning worship services. Included are instrumental or vocal solos, small ensembles, or performances by established groups. Several times each summer, a "summer choir" of interested singers provides an anthem with practice held preceding the worship service. This choir offers the opportunity for prospective choir members to try the choir experience without a long-term commitment, or allows participation by singers who may be unable to attend rehearsals during the regular adult choir season.
